BOOK SIX CAME HOME: Politics Isn’t Everything Releases in Springfield, Ohio

There are book releases you schedule.

There are book releases you promote.

And then there are the ones that somehow land exactly where they were supposed to.

On August 22, 2026, Book Six of The Unapologetics Series, Politics Isn’t Everything: Love, Legacy, and Letting Go, officially released.

And it happened in Springfield, Ohio.

Not New Jersey. Not from behind my desk. Not during some carefully staged launch event surrounded by banners, graphics, and an aggressively refreshed Amazon dashboard.

Springfield.

The place where pieces of this entire fictional universe began.

The Real Place Behind the Fiction

If you’ve spent any time inside The Unapologetics Series, you already know that its world feels lived in.

That’s because parts of it are.

The books are fiction. The characters are fiction. Their lives, scandals, relationships, political disasters, questionable decisions, and ability to create chaos at breathtaking speed belong to them.

But places have roots.

And some of mine lead directly to the Ridgewood section of Springfield, Ohio.

Ridgewood has been sitting quietly behind pieces of these books from the beginning—its streets, its homes, its history, and the memories attached to it all becoming ingredients in a fictional world that eventually grew far beyond its original inspiration.

This weekend, I was back there for a family gathering.

I walked those streets again.

I saw the houses.

I revisited places I hadn't seen in years.

And suddenly, things I had spent years translating into fiction were standing right in front of me again.

Which makes what happened next almost absurdly perfect.

Book Six Went Live While I Was There

Somewhere in the middle of this trip, Politics Isn’t Everything officially became a published book.

Book Six was released while its author was standing in the real place that helped inspire the world behind it.

You cannot manufacture that kind of timing.

And if I had tried to plan it, I probably would have screwed it up.

There was something surreal about looking around Ridgewood knowing that six books now existed because, somewhere along the way, memory collided with imagination and became something completely different.

The real Springfield never became the fictional world exactly.

It wasn't supposed to.

That’s the fun of fiction.

You steal a street here.

A feeling there.

A family story gets dismantled, rearranged, exaggerated, and handed to someone who never existed.

A house becomes another house.

A neighborhood becomes the skeleton of somewhere else.

And before long, reality has absolutely no idea what you've done to it.

Allegedly.

And Book Six Is About Legacy

That made Springfield an especially fitting place for Politics Isn’t Everything to arrive.

Because Book Six is, in many ways, a book about legacy.

It's about what we inherit.

What we build.

What we carry longer than we should.

What we eventually have to put down.

And what remains after we finally do.

The Unapologetics Series has always been loud. It has never been particularly interested in behaving itself. Love, politics, identity, family, power, ambition, sex, loyalty, betrayal, and spectacularly questionable judgment have all been invited to the party.

But Book Six is different.

The characters are different.

And, frankly, so is the storyteller.

This isn't the end of the world we've built.

Far from it.

But it is a pivot.

The perspective is changing.

The questions are changing.

The stories that need to be told next are changing.

And releasing the book while standing somewhere connected to the beginning made that evolution impossible to ignore.

Sometimes You Have to Go Back

I hadn't returned to Springfield expecting some profound literary pilgrimage.

I went for family.

But that's the thing about going home—or going back to somewhere that helped shape you.

You notice things differently.

You see what stayed the same.

You see what disappeared.

And you realize how much you changed while you weren't looking.

This time, I wasn't just seeing Springfield.

I was seeing pieces of stories.

I was seeing the distance between inspiration and creation.

I was looking at a place that helped plant something years ago and realizing that the thing it helped inspire now spans six published books.

That's a hell of a feeling.

And maybe that's exactly where Book Six needed to arrive.

Not because the story is ending.

Because it isn't.

But because sometimes, before you widen the world, you need one last look at where it started.

On August 22, 2026, Book Six came home.

And now?

We keep going.
